We stopped for the night in Hershey, Pennsylvania. What a great place! Other than the huge chocolate factory, which has it's own monorail to take employees from the parking lot to the factory, Hershey has Chocolate World. We only had time to tour the museum and try some free samples, but we want to go back for the roller coasters. We highly suggest this stop for anyone driving down to NC :-)
After a few days of dealing with driver's licenses, Social Security Numbers, cell phones, etc. we decided to spend the weekend at the beach.
On our way to the beach we stopped at Chick-fil-A for a snack. Alyssa still calls it chicka filet, but anyway. After the cashier rang in our order, he began wildly ringing a cow bell and yelling "yahoo". He looked at us like we should know what was going on, we looked at him like he was nuts. Turns out we were the 100th customer of the day and had won $10 off our order. Other customers congratulated us, what a great welcome to NC! We laughed for the next few hours.
On our way back from the beach we stopped for some coffee. Alyssa ordered a hot tea, which is generally a pretty straight forward request. The cashier looked at us and very seriously, and with a wonderfully thick southern accent said, "I've heard of that before but have no idea how you make it". Rafi asked her if they had tea bags, she said "yes", and then he asked if they had hot water, she again said "yes". With no light bulbs flashing, he kindly explained that the tea bag goes in the hot water and that's it. We laughed about that for a few hours too, and the tea was pretty good!
